Release – 5th November 2022

Ruth Nina Welsh is an English singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist whose signature, haunting vocals captivate listeners. Ruth’s powerful lyrics and acoustic mix of styles – blues, folk, country, up-tempo and ballads – attract fans of iconic singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Leonard Cohen.

Somehow is the second album release from her Lime Tree Studios acoustic sessions, recorded between 1999-2001. In Ruth’s words, “Somehow is an eleven-track concept album all about romantic love. You’ll hear some pieces of my heart. The album looks at joy, heartbreak, trust, betrayal, excitement and disappointment – the whole range of feelings and emotions. I’m sure that many of my own experiences will be echoed in yours.”

Ruth has lived with severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and other chronic illnesses for over 35 years. As she is no longer well enough to play and perform her music, Ruth is beginning to release her catalogue of studio songs and home recordings – which spans more than three decades – with newly commissioned artwork. The album artwork was painted in 2019 by artist Tanya Gordeeva.
