I’ve just finished Death Adjourned, the latest in Simon Michael’s nine-book series – The Charles Holborn Legal Thrillers. The series is set in London, in the 1960s. I’ve read the books and also listened to them on Audible – the narration is really excellent. The author was a barrister and so the legal detail is incredibly accurate. It’s full of believable characters and lots of authentic details from the 60s, including things like the World Cup win and the gangster Kray brothers. The main character, Charles Holborn, is quite brilliant and memorable – an amateur boxer, turned barrister, with a difficult relationship to his Jewish heritage. A brilliant series which I’ve now listened to twice because I love it so much. All the ebooks are Free On Kindle Unlimited, if you have a subscription. And they’re available in Audio & Paperback.
